Clippd Round Insights: The Complete Story of Every Round

Clippd’s Round Insights show the detailed story of every round you play. What were your best and worst shots? Where were your peaks and troughs? Where did you miss with your approaches? How well did you chip? By looking at your Round Insights you can find the answers to these questions and many more.

We’re going to take a look at the Round Insights from Scottie Scheffler’s Green Jacket-clinching final round at the 2024 Masters. To access Round Insights in Clippd, click on a completed round in your Feed or in Activities, then select Round Insights.

An overview of your round

An overview of Scheffler's final round at the Masters

The first thing you see is an overview of your round, which includes your score, basic statistics such as GIR and your Average Shot Quality breakdown for each area of your game. Remember, a Shot Quality of 100 is the quality expected of a male tour player. You can see that Scottie was above that average in each area of his game, especially Approach which is vital for success at Augusta National. His Average Shot Quality of 112 meant he was a full 12% better than tour average.

Your best and worst three shots

See your three best and worst shots from the round, based on their Shot Quality scores. Remember, a Shot Quality score of 100 represents male tour average, while 200 represents statistical perfection, like a hole in one or holing out from a difficult spot. For comparison, a 10 handicap golfer is expected to have a Shot Quality score of 59 for their approach shots.

See how good your most memorable shots were — and how bad the worst were! Was it that flushed 4-iron or the putt from way downtown? Now you can relive those moments! Looking at Scheffler’s best and worst three, you can see how close his approach into the 9th was from scoring the maximum 200 for Shot Quality. However, his worst shots show that even the world No.1 occasionally hits shots like the rest of us!

Shot Quality Tracker

The second shot on the 9th was a momentum shifter

The Shot Quality Tracker is an indicator as to how you performed over a round. It’s a quick and easy way to see where the momentum came and went. It shows every shot and tapping on a bar will give you the Shot Quality number and brief details for that shot.

For the final round of the 2024 Masters, Scheffler had a fairly up and down first nine. However, it’s clear that the 2nd shot on the 9th was a momentum shifter and the start of a more consistent second nine. The chasing pack just couldn’t keep up!

Department DNA

Average driving distance of 316 yards!

You can get a more detailed view for each area of your game in the round. There are relevant stats for each area such as average driving distance for Off The Tee (OTT) or the total putts made distance for putting (PUTT).

The now two-time Masters champion was slightly above male tour standard for OTT in the final round, hitting 64% of his fairways whilst having a tendency to miss right. As for his average driving distance of 316 yds — wow!

Par Performance

Scottie made the most of the par 5s

How did you perform as an average on the par 3s, par 4s and par 5s? See your average Average Shot Quality for each type of hole and understand if there’s a particular strength or weakness. You also get Strokes Gained numbers on each area of your game.

It’s an old adage that Masters contenders have to take advantage of Augusta’s par 5s. Scottie did just this in round 4, averaging nearly half a shot under par.

Shot Quality Summary

With all that pressure, he hit just one poor shot!

If you want to know how many elite, good, average and poor shots you hit in a round, then the Shot Quality Summary table is the place to go. It shows how many shots you hit in each Shot Quality category.

One of the most impressive aspects of Scheffler’s game is how rare it is for him to hit a bad shot. This is evidenced by the fact he hit one (one!) poor shot in the final round of the Masters, even with a chasing pack waiting for him to slip up.
